Let me tell you about Tangle Lakes Campground in Paxson. The drive down there took a little over 4 hours. The further we went away from Fairbanks, the more snow we saw. This worried us a bit as it was towards the end of May. We reached the campground entrance and saw that it was still full of snow and it was too late to find another spot to camp at. We decided to stay at the entrance and camp out for the night. We started a small fire to stay warm and cook up some food. The first night was miserable and most of our belongings were soaked from the melted snow.
The next morning we decided to see how much snow was blocking the entrance to the campground. Turns out that there were only three piles of snow blocking the entrance way. I was motivated enough to find a way through it because I wasn’t about to camp at the same spot after my experience. I decided to ram through it multiple times with the Jeep. Every time I got stuck, my buddy would pull me right out and we would repeat the process. After an hour, we finally got through and so everyone packed up and head towards the site.
It was definitely worth making a small entrance for our vehicles to come through. The view was amazing!!! Throughout the day we were glad to see that other visitors/campers were able to get through from the path we made. We spent the day exploring around the campground and had a nice dry and relaxing evening.
